中国科学院物理研究所（以下简称物理所）成立于1950年8月15日。
物理所是以物理学基础研究与应用基础研究为主的多学科、综合性研究机构。研究方向以凝聚态物理为主，包括凝聚态物理、光学、原子分子物理、等离子体物理、软物质与生物物理、理论和计算物理、材料科学与工程等。超导、拓扑、纳米、表面、极端条件等多个学科走在了世界科技最前沿；磁学、光学、先进材料、清洁能源等诸多领域为国民经济发展提供了有力支撑。近年来在笼目超导体、高温超导薄膜、水系电解液、超导量子计算、稀释制冷机、深紫外激光角分辨光电子能谱等基础研究、应用基础研究和核心技术攻关方面取得系列重要进展。
除了聚焦基础前沿问题，扎根中关村科研攻关外，物理所积极响应国家科技战略布局，投入北京科创中心怀柔科学城（综合条件实验装置、材料基因组研究平台和清洁能源材料测试诊断与研发平台）、粤港澳大湾区科创中心松山湖材料实验室以及长三角物理研究中心的建设。作为“国家队”“国家人”，心系“国家事”、肩扛“国家责”，全所上下凝心聚力，踔厉奋发，为国民经济发展和科技强国作出了积极贡献。
The Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the "IOP") was founded on August 15, 1950.
The IOP is a multidisciplinary and comprehensive research institution focusing on basic research and applied basic research in physics. His research interests include condensed matter physics, optics, atomic and molecular physics, plasma physics, soft matter and biophysics, theoretical and computational physics, materials science and engineering, etc. Superconductivity, topology, nanotechnology, surface, extreme conditions and other disciplines are at the forefront of world science and technology; Magnetism, optics, advanced materials, clean energy and many other fields have provided strong support for the development of the national economy. In recent years, a series of important progress has been made in basic research, applied basic research and core technology research such as cage superconductors, high- temperature superconducting films, aqueous electrolytes, superconducting quantum computing, dilution refrigerators, deep ultraviolet laser angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy, etc.
In addition to focusing on basic frontier issues and taking root in Zhongguancun scientific research, the Institute of Physics actively responds to the national strategic layout of science and technology, and invests in the construction of Huairou Science City (comprehensive conditional experimental device, material genome research platform and clean energy materials testing, diagnosis and R&D platform) of Beijing Science and Technology Innovation Center, Songshan Lake Material Laboratory of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Science and Technology Innovation Center and Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center. As a "national team" and "national person", concerned about "national affairs" and shouldering "national responsibilities", the whole institute has made positive contributions to the development of the national economy and the strengthening of science and technology.
